This interactive presentation will feature brief vignettes of figures from ages past in north-Central Vermont: Jacob Davis, Jr., Montpelier’s first permanent settler of European descent; Lorenzo Dow, an itinerant preacher from Connecticut; and the legendary so-called “Indian Joe”, the Abenaki tracker and guide after whom Joe’s Pond in Danville is named. By reflecting on these stories together, participants will be asked to draw from their own memories of people, places and events from their personal lives. Martin is a counselor whose focus is on healthy aging.

Pursuing a lifelong interest in traditional healing modalities and alternative health, she went on to study herbalism and energy healing modalities including Reiki and Alchemical Healing. Share Your Stories! Since retiring in 2010, Liz and her now 99- year-old Dad have published 7 books together. In this presentation, you’ll hear some of the stories collected from Dad’s experiences of nearly a century and you’ll see examples of different publishing possibilities, from super simple to the more polished self-published books. In addition, Liz has collected some of her own poetry and stories, which will be read to encourage participants to share their own stories. Liz is a 33 year veteran teacher and theater director at U-32. Her retirement has been filled with family, travels, writing, knitting and painting. Her card reads “Stories collected in ink, paper, paint, and yarn.”

Westview Meadows has begun to participate in Vermont’s 251 club! The 251 Club of Vermont invites people of all ages to join them in accomplishing a visit to every town in Vermont. This incredible club has been established since 1954, and now Westview Meadows is inviting their residents to participate as well. Westview Meadows will begin making trips to different towns across Vermont this spring and throughout the summer. Friday, Westview will be traveling to Marshfield to view the waterfall, Route 232 to Groton State Forest, Seyon Ranch Lodge Picnic, and then return back to Westview via Route 302 through Groton, Thompson, Orange, East Barre, Barre City.
