The focus of this discussion will be on adaptive equipment and skills to help people living with vision loss in maintaining their independence with cooking, cleaning, and engaging in their favorite hobbies.
Sarah from The Magic Bean Farm will be here for another creative workshop. Using herbs that she’s grown on her farm, she’ll be showing residents how to make their own custom tea blend.
The views into the cliffs and fiery foliage of Smuggler’s Notch are hard to beat from any vantage. But perhaps one of the best views is from the universally accessible 650-foot-long boardwalk at Barnes Visitor Center. The boardwalk traverses a bog, and Elephant’s Head, the rocky protuberance the helps make Smuggler’s Notch so dramatic, is right there.
Come along for a scenic ride and picnic in this picturesque setting! Please sign up if you’d like to go.
The history of Oktoberfest really boils down to a single wedding, one that has been celebrated for over 200 years now. The inaugural Oktoberfest was first celebrated in Munich in 1810 in honor of Prince Ludwig’s marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. After such a spectacular party, the happy couple decided that the same type of festival should be continued annually. In the following years, the festivities were repeated every October and they eventually moved forward into September. We’ll be serving traditional soft pretzels and of course, Oktoberfest beer!
Experience the soothing, peaceful sounds of harp from performer and harp therapist, Judi Byron. Tea Sandwiches and Scones will also be served. Feel free to wear your favorite tea party hat!!!
The Robert Frost Interpretive Trail was recently redone to make its entire mile-long length universally accessible. It now features two connected loops that wander through the varied landscapes that inspired Robert Frost. Several benches along the route encourage you to linger in the landscape, read the poems, and reflect on the beauty of Vermont’s wilderness. Picnic tables near the parking area also encourage you to stay awhile, listen to the birds, and enjoy a snack before continuing on your journey.
Come and admire the beauty of one of the last two working farms in Middlesex. You’ll have an opportunity for hands-on practice grooming the horses. You may also simply observe and enjoy the tranquil setting. Pease Farm offers therapy programs and is able to accommodate everyone!
