Many people are not aware that over 10,000 tigers and untold numbers of lions, catamounts, and leopards live in the United States, many of them as house pets. A small group of big cat sanctuaries try their best to rescue as many abused and abandoned wild cats as possible, providing them the best care they can for the rest of their lives. Come listen to the stories of these amazing animals and what it’s like to rescue and care for them from animal welfare specialist and local Montpelierite Willow Hecht, who has been working with big cats around the world since 2007. She’s the former Education Director and Senior Keeper at Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, FL and currently studies animal welfare, ethics and law at the University of Edinburgh.
This is a free event open to the public that is handicap accessible. For more information call Nicole Dupont, Activities Coordinator, at (802) 223-1068 ext. 3 or email [email protected]
