The Montpelier Senior Activity Center is offering a class for Beginning knitters who are ready for the next step. They will learn how to read a
pattern and learn a new cast-on (Turkish cast on) for a seamless
start. Knitters will also learn how to knit short rows. The instructor, Shelley Martin, will also provide two patterns to knit different types of totes to use for grocery bags.

This is the second piece of a 4 part presentation. New research and strategies will be presented to help residents become educated, giving everyone a better chance at avoiding these scams.
Robert Nichols is a retired environmental engineer and an astronomy enthusiast. He has been interested in the possibility of life on other planets since middle school, when he first learned that the sun is just an ordinary start and any star may have planets orbiting around it. He pursued this interest more rigorously after retirement by taking a total of four astronomy courses as a continuing education student at UVM over a three-year period. He has read widely in the astronomy field and has been an avid reader of Sky and Telescope and Astronomy magazines in the last 20 years.

Objects)! Meet some of the Mad Quilters and see their not so completed quilts (and a few that are completed) and learn why they have more UFOs then FOs. Are they lazy? Unskilled? Bored? They will show and tell. The event will have interactive stations for one to grab some wine and cheese and meet the quilters and learn about them and their quilts. Leave the white gloves at home. This isn’t a typical quilt show and it’s not just for women! If for no other reason… come encourage them to the TGIF (Thank Goodness It’s Finished) stage.
