Join Writer, Educator, Filmmaker, and Farmer, Kate Youngdahl- Stauss for a viewing of her new documentary. Kate has written dozens of documentaries for PBS, History, National Geographic, and more. Her new short documentary combines two of her passions: rural life and filmmaking. Based on the diaries of early 20th century Vermont hill farmers, it reveals a bygone age as well as her own experiences as a hill farmer.

Hop on board the Spirit of Ethan Allen for a relaxing lunchtime cruise! Enjoy the scenic narration while savoring their chef’s buffet lunch. During this tour, the ship heads north, towards Lone Rock Point. It loops around Juniper Island, goes past Rock Dunder and into Shelburne Bay. From there it heads back through the South End of Burlington. On Wednesday, September 20th, we’ll depart Westview Meadows at 10:30am and our ship sets sail at 12pm from the Burlington Waterfront. The cost is $44.00 and must be paid in advance.

Come and admire the beauty of one of the last two working farms in Middlesex. You’ll have an opportunity for hands-on practice grooming the horses. You may also simply observe and enjoy the tranquil setting. Pease Farm offers therapy programs and is able to accommodate everyone!

Hope Cemetery serves not only as a place to remember those who
work outside the craft and are buried there, but also as a tribute to the
stone cutters and artisans interred amongst the sculptures they created
while they lived. A common tourist destination, Hope Cemetery is
known as the museum of granite sculpture or the gallery of granite
artistry.
On Thursday September 7th from 12p-1:30p join us at Westview Meadows as we discuss the ins and outs of using a walker.

Tea comes first, and the old English adage “take the pot to the kettle, not the kettle to the pot” is their motto. They will be serving a set menu Full English Cream Tea. This consists of one scone, served with freshly whipped cream and homemade strawberry jam, two cucumber-herb sandwiches, and a little sweet bite, plus your choice of hot tea or iced beverages.

Westview Meadows will host author and historian Marty Podskoch who will give a Power Point presentation on the History of the Vermont Civilian Conservation Corps Camps.
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began on March 31, 1933 under President Roosevelt’s “New Deal” to relieve the poverty and unemployment of the Depression. CCC camps were set up in many VT towns, state parks, & forests. Workers built trails, roads, campsites, & dams, stocked fish, built & maintained fire tower observer’s cabins & telephone lines, fought fires, & planted millions of trees. The CCC disbanded in 1942 due to the need for men in WW II.

Peter spent many years working as a Park Ranger in Grand Canyon National Park and will share stories of his time there. He will touch on some of the park’s history, including its incredible geologic history.
